Destination Bay of Islands

The Bay of Islands is one of New Zealands wonderful holiday destinations - enjoyed by international visitors and New Zealanders. It combines being one of New Zealand's most significant historic sites with being one of the most stunning beautiful locations in the world.

With a sub-tropical climate, and 144 islands, you can enjoy beach and water activities (fishing, diving, sailing, cruising round the islands or swimming with the dolphins),  go exploring one of the many nature walks, charter a boat, enjoy one of the many vineyards, visit the Waitangi Treaty House (where New Zealand’s founding document was signed by Maori and Pakeha leaders) and so much more.  You can find thrilling adventure, an idyllic aquatic playground and the ultimate peaceful retreat for your tranquil holiday.

Situated on the East Coast of Northland, New Zealand, Russell, Opua, Paihia, Waitangi and Kerikeri all make up part of the Bay of Islands. Each town  has it's own unique culture and lifestyle - from a lifestyle focus and bustle, to a calming historic atmosphere, and the beautiful beaches.

The Bay of Islands is a great base for exploring all of the Far North. To the west is the Waipoua Kauri Forest where you can see Tane Mahuta - often described as the 2,000 year old 'Lord of the Forest.' To the north is Cape Reinga - the light-house where the Pacific ocean and the Tasman sea meet and the place where in Maori legend, the "spirits" depart to return to their ancestral home in Hawaiki.
